A man from Richmond County, VA, slashed a dog with a machete during a deer hunt but the strong dog survived it.

On Monday, Cortland Daniel McBeth faced animal cruelty charges after attacking his neighbor’s dog with a machete. The incident took place in the weekend during a deer hunt. The attacked dog survived with a big wound on his body that could’ve killed him.
Dameon Brooks, the owner of the dog, was shocked to see his dog bleeding and dying of the horrible wound. Brooks explained that his deer hound dog Butch is his family among his other hunting dogs.
On Saturday afternoon, Butch was attacked by McBeth during a deer hunt in Sharps Road in Richmond County. But he is now recovering from his severe wounds. Brooks explained that another member of his hunt club has confronted McBeth when he saw the deep wound on Butch’s side then he him with a machete.
Brooks explained that the attacker slashed Butch because he was protecting the livestock on his land. He didn’t want the dog on his property.
McBeth told the hunt group that he attacked one of their hunting dogs but he knew he didn’t kill him. He explained that he hit him with the tip of the machete.
Butch was immediately taken to the Warsaw Animal Clinic where he underwent a surgery. He is recovering from his wound but the consequences of the injury is not determined. Brooks felt devastated and sad for his dear dog.
The devastated owner wanted justice for his dog. He said Butch was in pain and didn’t deserve that.
